전설적인 힙합알앤비그룹 푸지스Fugees의 멤버로 활동하며 실력을 인정받은 프라스 미쉘Pras Michel. 리더인 와이클레프 장Wyclef Jean과 보컬 로린 힐Lauryn Hill이라는 천부적 재능talented을 갖춘 멤버들 사이에서 다소 빛이 반감되기도 했지만, 솔로앨범 게토슈파스타Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)를 성공시키며 자신의 역량을 대중에 선보인다. Ghetto Supastar는 프라스의 재치 있는 가사lyrics와 올더티바스타드Ol' Dirty Bastard의 러프한 랩핑rapping 그리고 특히 맑은 음색의 마야의 중독성 있는 인트로듀싱introducing으로 대중의 귀를 단번에 사로잡는다. 변장용 안면마스크를 찢으며 나타나는 프라스의 영화 같은 뮤직비디오도 화제를 모은다. 당시 이국 쇼핑몰에서 이 노래를 처음 접하게 된 후 노래 제목을 알기 위해 여기저기 수소문해봤지만 4분여 짧은 플레이 시간 동안 제목을 확인할 수는 없었다. 이후 마야의 멜로디라인만 뇌리에 각인된 채 1년여를 궁금증과 함께 살아갔다. 그렇게 기억 속에서 거의 잊힐 무렵 또다시 다른 채널에서 우연찮게 접하게 된 Ghetto Supastar. 인터넷 검색 끝에 간신히 노래 정보를 알아냈던 기억이 있다. 당시의 소중한 추억을 회상하게 해주는 고마운 곡. 이 곡만큼 당시의 추억을 불러일으켜주는 노래도 없다.
